Will i be able to photograph the meteors tonight with my samsung 7m.pix digimax camera,any advice?

i usualy just take pics of the kids and stuff i have made so i know nothing about night time photograpy.i think i have a very old tripod somewhere,im sure i could tape my canera to it if it dosnt fit on.will this help?what settings should i use?
