Why do Europeans hate minorities?

The stereotype is that Europeans are open-minded and tolerant, far more than Americans. But reality shows another picture. Throughout its history Europeans have targeted minorities and have brutalized them. Western Europe is the only place on earth where s have been rounded up enm and slaughtered. You can also add Jews, gypsies, handicapped, Catholics, and other minorities to the mix. When traveling through Europe, I'm stunned by the blatant racism, especially during soccer games.
